LHS Music Department Director & Teacher

 

Mrs. Katy Trapp has been the Lakewood High School Music Teacher since 2008.

She directs the LHS Band, Concert Choir, the LHS Jazz Choir, 'Swingbeat', the LHS Jazz Band, '11th Avenue', Music Appreciation and Piano Techniques.  Mrs. Trapp studied at Warner Pacific College in Portland, OR and received her BS in Music Education.  She received her Master's from Seattle Pacific University in 2012. She sings, plays piano, multiple wind and percussion instruments and is a composer/arranger. She has written many original jazz charts and arranged even more. She currently has 2 songs on iTunes/Amazon ('Melancholy' and 'Hold Me') and hopes to be back in the studio to record 'Not Slowin' Down' in the near future.

One of the musical highlights for Mrs. Trapp was singing at Carnegie Hall in NYC in 2009.  Mrs. Trapp was also honored to direct a semi-professional choir in 2010 that sang backup for Grammy and Dove Award winning musician, Michael W. Smith for his Christmas Tour in the Pacific Northwest.

Mrs. Trapp has been married to her wonderful husband Keith, since 1992. They have 5 beautiful children; Kelsey (and husband, Nick), Kaley (and husband, Mutende), Kyle (and fiance, Nina), Karissa (and her husband, William) and Kaleb. She has two ADORABLE grandkids!

Mrs. Trapp enjoys hanging out with her family, family vacations (especially Disney), game nights, music, movies and theater and scrapbooking when she has spare time!
