Solo/Ensemble is a WMEA contest for individuals and small groups of musicians for judging/critique and possible qualifications for State competition. Mount Pilchuck is the REGIONAL area of WMEA that Lakewood High School competes at for solo/ensemble.
(Mount Pilchuck Region is ALWAYS held on the 1st Saturday of February at various locations in our region! This is not a school sponsored day, so parents must take their student musician to and from the competition.)
https://wmea.org/state-solo-and-ensemble-contest/
Mrs. Trapp does not coach for this event. But if you are IN an LHS music ensemble and have a ‘classical’ song prepared, she will happily get you registered. (A WMEA qualified music educator must do the online registration for any student musicians wanting to compete)
It is highly recommended that you have a coach, private teacher, to help you prepare for this advanced contest. Registration has to be completed, online, by Mrs Trapp in EARLY January.
THINGS you will need to give Mrs Trapp in order to be registered:
-
Name and parent email
-
Instrument or Vocal Category that you will compete in
-
Name, email and phone number for your pianist
-
Pay the FEE
If you work on a song for Solo/Ensemble, you can talk to
Mrs Trapp if you have any questions.
